DHI Hair Transplant

DHI Hair Transplant

Canals are opened in the recipient area and hair follicles/grafts harvested from donor are are placed into these canals in FUE hair transplant. On the other hand, in DHI hair transplantation, hair follicles/grafts harvested from donor area are directly implanted to recipient zone with a pen-like device. In other words, canals are not opened in recipient area beforehand. Therefore, the grafts harvested from donor area are not kept outside the body for a long time.

What is DHI hair transplant?
What differs DHI hair transplant from FUE?

DHI hair transplant is the abbreviation of “Direct Hair Implant”. As DHI transplant is performed with a pen-like medical device, this method is also called pen technique/hair transplantation with pen.

How is DHI hair transplant performed?

Hair transplantation with FUE method is basically performed in 3 steps: The first step is to harvest the grafts, the second step is to open canals in the recipient area and the last step is to transfer the grafts/hair follicles into the canals.

The first stage is also harvesting the grafts in DHI transplant. Hair follicles/grafts are harvested from the donor area, similar to FUE method.

In the second stage, grafts are harvested with a specific medical device used in DHI method and they are directly transferred to the recipient zone without need for opening canals beforehand. Canal is opened within a few seconds with DHI pen and the graft is placed into the canal. In other words, unlike the FUE method, the canals are opened and the follicles are transferred at once.

Pain-free Anesthesia Method…

First, donor zone of the patient is anesthetized with “pain-free anesthesia method”. A device powered with pressure is used in this procedure. Therefore, patients do not feel pain or ache. Next, the hair follicles/grafts in donor area are harvested one by one with a special device.

Since it is not necessary to pen canals in the recipient area beforehand in DHI method, the grafts harvested from the donor area are placed in a medical device, called pen, without long-term delay. The tip of the pen is stuck into the recipient area and thus, canals are opened. Next, the mechanism on the back of the pen is pushed and the graft inside the device is fired into the canal. Crust formation in the recipient area is minimized and healing is accelerated in DHI method.

What are the advantages of DHI hair transplant?

  • The grafts harvested from the donor area are kept outside the body for minimum time. The longer the waiting period is, the higher the risk of damage in hair follicle becomes.

  • Transplantation can be performed more frequently with DHI method. Therefore, denser and more natural look is achieved.

  • It is easier to direct the hair follicles during transplantation with DHI method.

  • It is not necessary to shave the scalp hair of the patient in hair transplantation with DHI method. This is an important advantage especially for women.

  • In DHI transplant, the damage to the recipient area is minimized while hair follicles are transferred. Therefore, crust formations are less common after the transplantation. Recovery period is shorter.

This is the most recent hair transplantation technique that ensures the look closest to natural hair, less scar, denser hair, shortest recovery period and use of treatment-specific needles.
